The production of the sixth and final season of "Emily in Paris" is proceeding with almost no delay despite actress Minnie Driver's (56) car accident. According to the U.S. trade publication "Deadline", the filming schedule has remained virtually unchanged. Because the British actress already had a filming break scheduled in the calendar, only a single scene with her had to be postponed.

Accident happened away from the set

The public learned about the accident from the actress herself. Driver has been documenting her stay in the French capital for about eight weeks in an Instagram video series. On August 6, she addressed viewers from bed wearing a neck brace: Her "Paris Update" this time was that she was actually already back in London. She had been "in a really serious car accident a few days ago" while she was "on a country road in the middle of France".

She and her companion were not at fault, the actress emphasized: Another car had failed to stop at an intersection and continued at high speed, causing her own vehicle to crash into the side of the other car. They didn't walk out of the wreck, they crawled out.

They survived the impact because of the electric car they were in: Its all-around airbags saved their lives, Driver said. "I am so grateful to be alive." In the caption of her Instagram post, she also wrote: "A huge thank you to the van driver who stopped and helped us before the ambulances arrived... The accident keeps replaying in my head - it's very difficult, but seems to be a necessary part of processing."

Driver plays Princess Jane

Driver has been part of the Netflix production's ensemble since season five. She portrays Princess Jane, an extravagant old friend of Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, 63) who married into nobility and lives in Italy. In the season finale, the character joins Agence Grateau as a partner and helps Sylvie out of a financial bind.

Filming of the final season has been underway since May. It began in Greece, then the production moved to Monaco, before relocating to Paris for the majority of the shoots.

Production has accommodated before

The series has already responded to health setbacks in the ensemble once before, although with significantly greater consequences at the time: Ashley Park (35) had contracted tonsillitis on vacation at the end of 2023, which turned into a life-threatening septic shock in early 2024. Work on season four began in January 2024 without her, and Park joined later.
