Did Marius Borg Høiby (29) secretly visit his mother Mette-Marit (52) in the hospital? Allegedly, the 29-year-old, who was sentenced to a four-year prison term on Monday for, among other things, assault, was allowed into Rikshospitalet in Oslo. That's where the Norwegian Crown Princess received a lung transplant.
The verdict against Høiby is not yet final; he intends to file an appeal. However, he remains in pre-trial detention. An application for release was denied by the competent court after the verdict was announced. Marius Borg Høiby had previously filed such applications due to his mother's health condition, with which he also failed.
Visits through the back entrance?
After the palace announced on Wednesday the successful lung transplant of Mette-Marit, the magazine "Se og Hør" claimed that Marius Borg Høiby was allegedly allowed to be with his mother in recent days. There is talk of "multiple visits" through the back entrance under "the strictest secrecy" since he was transferred to Ila prison on Friday.
"Se og Hør" had previously also reported that Mette-Marit's husband Crown Prince Haakon (52) and daughter Princess Ingrid Alexandra (22) visited the Crown Princess in the hospital. On Wednesday morning, the palace announced that Mette-Marit received a new lung. "The Crown Princess has undergone a successful lung transplant at Rikshospitalet in Oslo", the Royal House announced.
Like all other patients after a transplant, the Crown Princess will remain at Rikshospitalet for several more weeks, it further states. This is a routine measure to adjust medication, treat any complications, and carry out rehabilitation measures, explained Are Holm, head of the relevant department at Rikshospitalet, in the statement. Crown Prince Haakon will adjust his schedule to be with the Crown Princess during this time. The 52-year-old had already canceled appointments previously in order to support his wife.
The Crown Prince couple has been married since 2001 and together they have two children, Ingrid Alexandra and Sverre Magnus of Norway (20). Marius Borg Høiby is from a previous relationship of Mette-Marit.
