Carys Douglas (23), the daughter of Hollywood stars Michael Douglas (81) and Catherine Zeta-Jones (56), has reached an important milestone in her acting career: The 23-year-old celebrated her professional stage debut in Anton Chekhov's theater classic "The Seagull".

In the production by theater group Solid Flesh, Douglas took on the lead role of Nina. The play was performed as part of a limited run at St. Lydia's, a queer-friendly church in the Brooklyn neighborhood of New York City.

"The Seagull", written by Anton Chekhov in 1895 and first performed on Broadway in 1916, is considered one of the most significant works in theater history. At its center are artists, writers, and actors whose relationships are marked by love, ambition, and unfulfilled dreams.

Carys Douglas looks back on theater production

On Instagram, initial footage from the performance is already circulating. It shows Carys Douglas in a simple black stage outfit. After the performance, she took the audience's applause together with her seven fellow actors and then signed programs for attendees.

The actress herself has now also looked back on the project and shared on Instagram several impressions from rehearsals and performances. She wrote alongside the images: "The Seagull - what a wonderful time."

Carys Zeta Douglas completed her studies in film studies and international relations at Brown University last year. She already gained her first experience in front of the camera in 2024. She appeared in the short film "F*ck That Guy", as well as in the short film "Shell".
