Adele (38) spoke about her son Angelo in a surprisingly open and rare interview - revealing that he's the one who turned her into a huge Formula 1 fan. The singer visited the McLaren Racing team headquarters on Friday and met with team principal Zak Brown as well as F1 drivers Lando Norris (26) and Oscar Piastri (25).

However, the occasion wasn't purely sporting: Adele directly connects her new passion with her son Angelo (13), whom she shares with ex-husband Simon Konecki.

Formula 1 as a Family Hobby

In the conversation, Adele explained that Angelo suddenly became interested in karting a few years ago - the classic entry point into motorsport and thus also into Formula 1. "He just asked about it at some point, and I thought: Okay", said Adele. "I don't know many teenagers who really have a passion, so I try to encourage it."

It quickly developed into a shared obsession. Today, mother and son watch races together and even discuss drivers - sometimes very passionately. "He's obsessed. But so am I", said Adele. "I never expected that I would build such a strong connection with my almost 14-year-old son over something like this - we actually argue about drivers."

For Adele, the shared passion has also become a new form of relationship with her teenage son. Especially at this age, it's not a given to have so much shared time and topics of conversation. "When your child has an interest, you have to engage with it", she explained. "And more importantly: you have to be interested yourself."

Adele Barely Sings Anymore

During her visit to McLaren Racing, Adele not only received a tour of the high-tech headquarters, but also got into the racing simulator herself. There she met the two McLaren drivers and was visibly enthusiastic about the world of Formula 1.

In conversation with Lando Norris, Adele also spoke openly about the fact that she currently barely sings anymore and struggles with the intense experience of fame. She described her profession as "kind of absurd" and said she never originally planned to be in the spotlight herself.

Since her mega concerts in Munich and Las Vegas in 2024, Adele has largely withdrawn from the stage. The singer released her last album "30" in 2021. Currently, the British star is primarily focused on her private life - including her son and her partner Rich Paul. In previous interviews, Adele has already mentioned that she could imagine having more children.
