Bjarne Mädel (58) is back in front of the camera as Ralf Prange. The sequel to the successful NDR comedy is currently being filmed in Hamburg-Barmbek. Until July 14, Katharina Marie Schubert (49) and Olli Dittrich (69) will once again be standing alongside Mädel in front of the camera. Behind "Prange 2" are the same minds as the first installment: Andreas Altenburg (56) has once again written the screenplay, and Grimme Prize winner Lars Jessen (57) is directing again, producing the film together with Maren Knieling.
Problems and a Double Life in the Basement
Half a year after his declaration of love to Dörte Krampitz (Katharina Marie Schubert), much has changed for Prange. The initial euphoria is followed by everyday life and with it a growing loss of control in several areas of life. Additional pressure comes from a new landlord who has taken over the entire building and is claiming the apartment for his son due to personal use.
Prange reacts with increasing irritation and goes on the offensive: with the landlord, with the advancing gentrification in Barmbek-Süd, and with neighbors who, in his view, are using unfair means. His relationship also comes under strain. He withdraws from Dörte and begins a double life. There he tinkers together with neighbor Horst Rohde (Olli Dittrich) on plans - with catastrophic consequences.
Film Expected to Be Released This Year
In addition to the main cast, the film features Božidar Darko, Samy Ghariani, Angelika Richter, Gabriela Maria Schmeide, Michael Diercks, Maximilian Scheidt, Linn Reusse, and Bernd Hölscher, among others.
Andreas Altenburg, who provided the source material, is no stranger in the North: He wrote, among other things, the NDR-2 comedies "Wir sind die Freeses" and "Die Kur-Oase", for which he was awarded the German Radio Prize. The NDR-2 podcast "Barmbek Pump - Prange vs. Rohde" received the German Podcast Prize. "Prange 2" is expected to be available on Ersten and the ARD media library at the end of 2026.
