Barbara Schöneberger (52) will once again host the German Television Awards. RTL has now announced this. The broadcaster also shared that jungle camp host Jan Köppen (43) will be taking over as host of the "Night of the Creatives" for the first time this year. The award ceremonies will take place on September 8 and 9 in Cologne. According to the announcement, RTL will broadcast the award ceremony on a delay starting at 8:15 PM on the second evening of the event. The TV gala will take place at the Cologne Confex Center for the first time in 2026.

Schöneberger will be leading through the show for the ninth time, during which the awards as well as the sponsors' advancement prize and honorary award will be presented. "Television - whether linear or streaming - is alive and well, especially on the evening of the German Television Awards ceremony. I'm delighted that I will now be hosting this wonderful event for the three-quarter dozen time and can meet my professional friends there", the host explains. Prior to this, at the "Night of the Creatives" (September 8) at the Cologne Flora, the winners in the creative trades will be honored.

These productions have a chance at the prize

The German Television Awards will honor "the outstanding productions and creative achievements" of the year in September. An independent expert jury decides on nominations and awards. Productions released between July 1, 2025 and June 30, 2026 will be considered.

Partners of the German Television Awards are the streaming providers Disney+, Netflix and Prime Video.
