Shipping giant Amazon is once again calling on Prime members for a major bargain hunt: From June 23 to 26, 2026, this year's Prime Day will take place. During the promotional period, members receive exclusive access to, according to company information, hundreds of thousands of offers.
Subscription customers will find discounted items from more than 35 product categories on the online retailer's website through Friday, according to a press release. Products are offered from areas ranging from electronics to beauty and fashion to garden, household, and kitchen.
Prime Members Save on Movies and Series Too
As always, this applies to this year's Prime Day as well: Those who don't have a membership generally have no access. Even though there were already numerous deals in advance as usual, the shopping event officially begins in Germany at 12:01 AM on June 23.
The offering includes products from established brands and lesser-known manufacturers as well as private labels. The latter include, among others, Amazon Basics. In addition, in-house devices such as Echo and Kindle models or from Ring and Blink are also discounted. The shipping retailer names, for example, Gillette, Gardena, and De'Longhi as brands participating in the sale this year.
Beyond the shipping world, the company offers digital benefits. Selected titles on Prime Video can currently be rented or purchased with up to 50 percent discount, including new releases. For Amazon Music Unlimited, those who haven't tried the service yet will receive four free months for a limited time. Existing subscribers to the Individual plan can upgrade to the Family Plan for two months at no extra charge.
Even Amazon Points to the Old Prime Trick
There's a well-known trick by now for consumers who aren't yet members - a trial membership. Those who are new can use a 30-day free trial period. You can start a free trial membership to participate in the big summer shopping event, the retailer advertises in a statement. However, caution is advised with this option: If not canceled in time, charges will apply afterward. Currently, the standard subscription is available either for 8.99 euros monthly or 89.90 euros with payment for a full year.
In addition, discounted memberships are offered. Students, trainees, and young people between 18 and 24 years old receive, according to the company, a free trial period of six months. After that, they pay around 50 percent - either 4.49 euros per month or 44.90 euros per year. In some cases, information can still be found stating that the offer applies to young people between 18 and 22 years old, but in June 2025, the company stated in a press release that in Germany, all 18- to 24-year-olds now receive a 50 percent discount on Prime membership. Those who are exempt from paying the broadcasting fee can also book the subscription for 4.49 euros monthly. The free trial period in this case is 30 days.
Despite the flood of offers on Prime Day, this applies: Not every displayed deal is automatically good. Consumer protection agencies also point this out. On the consumer protection website, it generally states regarding discounted online purchases: Many of the fantastic savings prices are based on a comparison with the manufacturers' suggested retail price, abbreviated MSRP. In reality, however, hardly any retailer charges the MSRP, which has gained a reputation as an inflated price. Those who want to be on the safe side should check the price of a desired product before purchase. It's also recommended, for example, to use at least two different price comparison engines for this purpose.
