Mette-Marit (52) has a new lung. After a successful transplant in Oslo, not only did the Norwegian palace notify the public, but the Danish royals also spoke out. The two royal houses maintain a close relationship, and so Queen Mary of Denmark (54) personally shared that her thoughts are with the Norwegian Crown Princess.

"I have learned that the operation went well, and I am very happy about that", Mary explained in a brief statement in front of the running cameras of the Danish broadcaster DR. "Our warmest thoughts are with the Crown Princess and the entire family", the Queen conveyed during an event at the University of Copenhagen.

The Swedish court also sends wishes for recovery

Previously, the Swedish royal house had also commented. "The royal family has received the encouraging news that Crown Princess Mette-Marit has undergone a lung transplant and that everything apparently went well", according to the magazine "Svensk Damtidning". The royal family sends warm greetings and wishes Mette-Marit a good recovery and a speedy recuperation.

The Norwegian palace announced on June 17 in a statement that Crown Princess Mette-Marit has received a new lung. "The lung transplant has been successful so far", said Arnt Fiane, head of the heart and lung transplant program at Rikshospitalet, who was quoted in the announcement.

The Crown Princess will now remain in the hospital for several weeks. This is a routine measure to adjust medication, treat any complications, and carry out rehabilitation measures, explained Are Holm, professor at the University of Oslo and lung specialist at the university hospital. The court intends to provide the next official update on Mette-Marit's health status only when she is discharged from the clinic.
