Actress Lea Drinda (25) is standing in front of the camera for the Beatles series "Hamburg Days": The actress portrays photographer and artist Astrid Kirchherr - a role that was initially supposed to be taken on by Luna Jordan (2000-2026). This was announced by production company Wiedemann & Berg on Thursday. Drinda is known, among other things, from the drama "In die Sonne schauen" and the comedy series "Where's Wanda?".

Following the news of Jordan's death in mid-May, the team temporarily suspended filming in Hamburg. They consciously took time "to create space for initial processing of the tragic loss and to say goodbye to the esteemed actress and colleague", according to the statement. Since then, filming of the biopic has resumed.

What is known about Luna Jordan's death

Jordan died on May 13 "suddenly and unexpectedly", as reported by her Berlin agency Players, citing the family. The family did not provide information about the cause of death. Jordan became known to a wider audience through the series "Jenseits der Spree" alongside Jürgen Vogel (58). As recently as March 2026, she appeared in "Polizeiruf 110", and back in 2017 she starred in the ZDF series "Der Bergdoktor". For her supporting role in the drama "Fuchs im Bau", she was honored with the Austrian Film Award in 2022.

A Beatles biopic from Hamburg

The six-part drama series "Hamburg Days" by ZDF and BBC tells the story of the Beatles' early years and their formative time in the Hanseatic city, where the future world-famous band first took shape. "Hamburg Days" takes place in the early 1960s in St. Pauli, where the young artist couple Klaus Voormann (88) and Astrid Kirchherr (1938-2020) encounter a chaotic band from Liverpool in the clubs of the red-light district.

The production is based on parts of Klaus Voormann's autobiography, and he is also accompanying the production as an exclusive consultant. When "Hamburg Days" will be broadcast is not yet known.
