Adel Tawil (47) shares that his mother has passed away. An emotional video on Instagram shows old footage of the singer with his mom, set to lyrics from his song "Schnee".
In the photos, the then-young musician can be seen, among other things, in his mother's arms. One photo shows the two of them bathing, while another shows Tawil looking at a children's book beside her. In yet another image, they're smiling broadly toward the camera while his mother hugs the singer. A large broken heart emoji is displayed in the lower right corner of the clip.
"From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank you for your sympathy, kind words, and understanding", Tawil writes alongside the images. It means "so much to experience such compassion and support", he says. At the same time, however, he asks for understanding that he does not wish to comment further publicly on this matter. The singer wishes for his family's privacy to be respected.
Condolences and belief in a reunion
In the comments on the post, many people, including several prominent figures, also express their sympathy. They wish him strength during this difficult time or show their support in other ways. "My condolences and much strength", says rapper Farid Bang, for example. Actress Diana Amft wishes "lots of strength to you and your loved ones". And singer Jay Khan assures him: "My heartfelt condolences, Adel, you will see each other again."
