Sandra Bullock (61) is among the Hollywood stars who particularly rigorously shield their private lives. All the more remarkable is what the actress has now made public on American Father's Day: On Instagram, she commemorated her father who passed away in 2018 and in doing so also granted a rare glimpse of her two children.

Alongside the words "He loved me in my goth era... he loved the loves of my life... and he loved our country", the actress shared several photos of her father John Wilson Bullock.

The opening was a photo showing Bullock arm in arm with her father at the 1999 premiere of the film "Auf die stürmische Art". She poked fun at herself in retrospect about her very dark makeup from that time. Then she shared two pictures showing John Wilson Bullock holding his grandchildren in his arms. The actress adopted both her children: Louis in 2010 and Laila in 2015. The children are not recognizable in the old snapshots: Louis is holding his hands in front of his face, and the actress protected Laila with a heart emoji.

Additionally, the actress shared a black-and-white photo of her father from his military service. John Wilson Bullock was a U.S. Army employee and civilian Pentagon contractor. In closing, she wished: "Happy heavenly Father's Day, Dad."

Father passed away in 2018 at age 93

John Wilson Bullock passed away in September 2018 at the age of 93. Sandra Bullock had already spoken publicly about the difficult loss in the past. On the "Ellen DeGeneres Show" in late 2018, she recalled that her father and two of her dogs had passed away within a few weeks. "I realized that life happens either way." She had initially believed she could cope with everything, but then was eventually caught up by her grief - which had not escaped her children's notice either.

Mother and grandmother honored as well

The Father's Day tribute is not the only family retrospective that Sandra Bullock has recently shared. On Mother's Day in early May, she also remembered her late grandmother and her late mother Helga Meyer. The German opera singer and voice teacher passed away in April 2000 after battling cancer at the age of 58. Addressing her mother and grandmother, she wrote: "Mom and Grandma, thank you for teaching me so much." Along with this, she showed herself cuddling with her children in costume: Laila in a colorful tulle dress, Louis as a wizard.
