Justin Bieber (32) could soon be performing on one of the biggest stages in the sports world. The US celebrity portal "TMZ" reports that the singer is allegedly in negotiations for a performance at the World Cup final.
Should the rumors prove true, Justin Bieber would join the previously announced co-headliners Madonna (67), Shakira (49), and BTS at the first-ever halftime show of a World Cup final. The tournament's final match takes place on Sunday, July 19, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Chris Martin Provides Entertainment
The final halftime show program is being curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin (49). The Brit presented himself in an announcement video on the Coldplay Instagram page alongside characters from "Sesame Street" and the Muppets - including a cameo appearance by BTS. When "Sesame Street" character Elmo asked what a halftime show actually is, Martin replied: "There's singing, there's dancing, there's music, and it's a chance to show how wonderful all the different people are."
There's more behind the show than pure entertainment. The spectacle is being produced by the nonprofit organization Global Citizen, which aims to raise 100 million US dollars to provide children worldwide with better access to education and soccer. FIFA will donate one US dollar from every ticket sold during the World Cup finals to the fund.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino (56) had already announced the halftime show at a World Cup event in March 2025. "This will be a historic moment for the FIFA World Cup and a show worthy of the world's greatest sporting event", Infantino explained at the time.
Justin Bieber Loves the NHL
Justin Bieber, meanwhile, recently made an appearance at another sporting event. At the 2026 NHL Draft, he created a surprise moment. The singer took the stage in Buffalo at the end of June to announce the first pick of the evening for his beloved team, the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Visibly in good spirits and with a broad smile, he waved to the audience. After Bieber hugged NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman (74), the actual task followed. "Mr. McKenna, we would like to draft you for the Toronto Maple Leafs", the musician said, bringing 18-year-old Gavin McKenna onto the stage.
