With Laura Wontorra: Second-tier top match now on RTL and Sky

Laura Wontorra (37) will be back on Sky next season. This is made possible by a change that RTL announced on Thursday: Starting with the kickoff of the 2nd Football League on August 8, RTL and Sky Sport will jointly produce the Saturday evening top match, instead of showing two separate broadcasts as before. What airs on free TV on RTL or NITRO will be adopted one-to-one by the pay-TV channel.

Laura Wontorra worked at Sky as a trainee until 2013. After 13 years, the new arrangement now brings her back to the channels of her former employer. In addition to RTL, she also continues to work for DAZN and will thus appear on two competing pay-TV providers in the future.

The Team for the 2nd League

However, the host does not have a permanent slot for Saturday evening: The team also includes Florian König (58) as well as Anna Kraft (40) and Laura Papendick (37).

Kraft will host the first joint evening on August 8 starting at 8:15 PM with the match between relegated team VfL Wolfsburg and 1. FC Kaiserslautern. A week later, Papendick will take over for the duel between Kaiserslautern and Karlsruhe. On the third matchday, the top game moves to NITRO for the first time, when 1. FC Nürnberg and Arminia Bielefeld face off. For these evenings, Kraft, Jana Wosnitza (32) and Yannick Erkenbrecher (43) rotate in front of the camera.

The expert pool includes Felix Kroos, Simon Terodde, Patrick Helmes and Max Kruse. Marco Hagemann commentates for RTL, when NITRO broadcasts, Cornelius Küpper, Robby Hunke, Kai Dittmann or Martin Groß take over. Jana Wosnitza, Thomas Wagner, Marcel Klein and Jonas Gerdes remain active as field reporters.

Sky Now Belongs to RTL

Sky has officially belonged to RTL Deutschland since last month. By eliminating the duplicate broadcast, the network saves costs. In terms of personnel, RTL prevails, while the previous Sky crew largely loses the top match.

All other matches of the 2nd League from Friday to Sunday will continue to air exclusively on Sky, on selected matchdays RTL will additionally show the conference on free TV.
