She is just 13 years old and yet already moving in the spotlight of show business: North West, daughter of Kim Kardashian (45) and Kanye West (49), has appeared at Paris Fashion Week. She showed up at the menswear show of label Vetements apparently without her parents accompanying her. Videos and images of her appearance have since been circulating online - and are sparking a debate.
Among other things, the clips show the 13-year-old being surrounded by photographers and appearing visibly overwhelmed. Many users expressed irritation. "She looks so lost and confused", wrote one Instagram user. Another commented: "This is all just totally strange..."
One question stood out particularly in the comments: Where were her parents? "North West is 13 years old. She is alone in Paris with a few friends and bodyguards, attending parties and shows. A 13-year-old girl. Where are her parents?", one person wrote on X about the footage.
Criticism of photos with adult men
Additional irritation was caused by images showing North West posing together with adult men who put their arms around her shoulders for the photos. The 13-year-old also stood out fashionwise, as she has at previous appearances, with a striking look: For the Vetements show, she wore a sweatshirt from the label, a pleated miniskirt, ripped tights, and platform boots. She paired this with a collar studded with large spikes.
North has been showing up with various piercings on her face for months now. At the Paris event, she presented two new piercings on her upper lip. Whether these were real or merely part of her look is not yet known.
What Kanye West and Kim Kardashian were doing
Kanye West was indeed also in the French capital, but did not attend Fashion Week together with his daughter. Instead, according to media reports, the rapper celebrated his 49th birthday with his wife Bianca Censori (31) and around 20 guests at the Palace of Versailles, among other things.
Kim Kardashian was apparently in California at the time. As evident from her Instagram stories, the 45-year-old spent the weekend at her sister Khloé Kardashian's birthday party, who was celebrating her 42nd birthday.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were married from 2014 until their divorce was finalized in 2022. In addition to North, the two have three other children together: son Saint as well as daughter Chicago and son Psalm.
North West is now pursuing her own musical ambitions. Just in May, she released her first EP "N0rth4evr" with a total of six songs. The record surprised with an experimental mix of emo, trap, punk, and metal.
