US actor Walton Goggins (54) is a real hero according to Olivia Wilde (42). The actress and director now reveals on the podcast "Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard" that her colleague once literally saved her life during filming.
Goggins, known among other things from series like "The Shield" and "Fallout" as well as from films like "Django Unchained", once starred alongside Wilde in Jon Favreau's (59) "Cowboys & Aliens". During the 2010 shoot, he intervened when a herd of horses galloped toward the fallen Wilde. "Walt Goggins saved my life on that film", the actress recounts. "I had a very bad horse accident and he saved me."
It sounded "like thunder" as Olivia Wilde lay on the ground
She has a lot of experience with horses, Wilde explains. She had been riding all her life, but in the English style and not Western-style, as was necessary for the film. She was galloping through the desert with her co-stars Daniel Craig (58) and Harrison Ford (83) at the time - with around 40 horses behind them. She could see a large ditch and thought she could jump over it with her horse. But Wilde was thrown off.
The actress fell on her back and head and ended up lying behind the edge of the pit, so the herd couldn't see her. A lot of dust had also been kicked up. She remembers lying with one ear on the ground and it sounding "like thunder". At that moment, she thought that at least it would be quick.
Goggins saw the whole thing and reacted in a split second. He is an excellent rider and positioned himself and his horse sideways in front of Wilde to protect his colleague. "And so I owe him my life. It's crazy. He's a real-life hero", Wilde recounts.
