"I love music!" Thomas Müller (36) would apparently have liked to have made it big musically as well. "I have the feeling that I would like to be a singer, but I have neither a voice nor song lyrics", jokes the former Bayern star in the new episode of "Zeit fürs Gehen" on Apple Fitness+. He would also like to play piano or guitar. In general, he missed out on music a bit during his youth.

During a walk across the training ground of his current team, the Vancouver Whitecaps, the 2014 World Cup winner talks about his long journey to becoming a professional soccer player, his new life in Canada, and the songs that have shaped his life. At the age of ten, Müller already switched from his village club TSV Pähl to the youth academy of FC Bayern München. However, he didn't have a concrete goal of becoming a professional back then. He simply tried year after year to make the jump to the next youth team.

These three favorite songs does Thomas Müller take on his walk

"Of course, I am a very talented soccer player", Müller also says. However, compared to some absolute exceptional talents, he was always more "the hard-working type". He experienced his big breakthrough at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, where he scored five goals. Only later did he understand how extraordinary that had been: "When that happens in your first year, you think it's normal."

After 25 years at FC Bayern, Müller moved to Vancouver in 2025. He doesn't view changes as a reason for fear, but as a challenge. His interview walk is accompanied by three personal favorite songs: the reggaeton hit "Bandoleros" by Don Omar, Metallica's timeless ballad "Nothing Else Matters", and the 90s pop song "Lemon Tree" by Fool's Garden, which reminds him especially of car rides with his father.

"Zeit fürs Gehen" is an audio format by Apple Fitness+ in which well-known personalities share personal stories and selected music during a walk.
