Ruby Rose (40) only wanted to water her garden - but a slip by the pool ended with the actress in the hospital. The Australian, who lives in the USA, broke several ribs in the fall according to her own statements and shared a video of the painful mishap on Instagram and Threads.
In her Instagram stories, Rose shared a clip from her security camera showing her balancing on the narrow edge of her pool with a garden hose in her hand. While attempting to spray a section of her garden located above the water, she loses her balance and falls into the pool - visibly hitting the pool edge as she falls.
"RIP to my ribs and to the rest of my summer. They're broken, several of them. Straight to the hospital", she wrote, adding a laughing-crying emoji. She also posted the video on Threads, writing: "One moment I'm talking to you all, the next moment I'm in the hospital with two broken ribs. What a damn Monday."
Not her first serious injury
For the "Orange Is the New Black" actress, this is not her first hospital visit of this kind. She already had to be treated in 2019 after performing a stunt for her lead role in the CW series "Batwoman". Initially, they thought it was a broken rib, she said at the time on the "Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon". In reality, two herniated discs were behind the pain. Without immediate treatment, she could have even faced paralysis.
Three months in a trauma facility
Rose recently described in an interview with "TV Week" how much the experience affected her: The injuries were so traumatic that her brain would "literally shut down" whenever she wanted to talk about them publicly. "The memories of it were so bad that I had to spend three months in a trauma facility in 2021."
She was confronted with it again earlier this year in the SBS documentary series "The Hospital: In the Deep End". There she also revealed that she had once ended up unconscious in the emergency room after a car accident - thrown through the windshield and dependent on care for weeks.
