Tom Kaulitz (36) is "nervous" ahead of his role as fan expert for MagentaTV at the FIFA World Cup 2026. The reason: It's his first job without twin brother Bill. At the premiere of "Kerners 11", a daily World Cup podcast by Johannes B. Kerner (61), Tom Kaulitz explained: "Normally I do everything with Bill. And now I'm being asked on my own for once."

The two brothers don't share a passion for soccer: "Bill and I are just so fundamentally different! Soccer is just one of many things where we're simply not on the same page at all", Tom Kaulitz continued in the podcast. "Bill isn't interested in soccer and knows absolutely nothing about it. But he's incredibly happy for me that I can be part of this - but he can't relate to the euphoria."

It's "a miracle" that his brother and he have a band together, according to the Tokio Hotel star. "To be honest, those are also the situations where we argue and have differences of opinion: creatively, when we write, when we do things together. But then we also somehow fertilize each other." Now he's "also very nervous", the 36-year-old added, "because this is my first job without him! Normally I do everything with Bill. And now I'm being asked on my own".

Bill Kaulitz "thinks Manuel Neuer is really great"

The musician also revealed, according to MagentaTV, who's at the top of Bill's list: "He thinks Manuel Neuer is really great! He wouldn't be too old for him either. So if my brother had a soccer player as a partner, that would of course be a win-win situation for me because I'd always be able to get tickets. It has to be a proper soccer player. National team would be great - and Bayern obviously even better. Bill watches every game with me - as long as there are drinks and the players are attractive."

Regarding the German national team's performance at the World Cup, Tom Kaulitz has "basically a good feeling": "I don't feel the same way as perhaps many others who say it won't work out. I have a good feeling, also after the test matches I've seen. We have a great team!" Anything can happen in a tournament like this. "We obviously have an awful lot of knockout games. That's why it can also be over unexpectedly quickly, of course. But I definitely believe we can make it to the semifinals. I bet that Germany will exceed many people's expectations at this World Cup!"
