TV host Thore Schölermann (41) could hardly believe his eyes when he unsuspectingly approached his car earlier this week. What he found there resembled a scene from a horror movie: the interior of the vehicle was covered in gore everywhere, as he documented in a video.

On his official Instagram account, the father of two attempted to reconstruct what had happened to cause this gruesome sight: "Someone must have been seriously injured. And sat in our car", he initially suspected. Footage from a video camera seemed to temporarily confirm this theory as well.

Eight patrol cars were then dispatched, and the possibly seriously injured man was searched for with drones, tracking dogs, and the fire department. Without success.

The presumed victim turned out to be a perpetrator

In an update on the case, which Schölermann titled with the phrase "How the tables have turned", he presented his followers with a completely different situation. According to him, the man had "broken into cars a few streets away, damaged things and apparently injured himself in the process", Schölermann explained.

Apparently, even the injuries didn't stop the unknown man, and he simply continued - including in the host's car. But how did the perpetrator even gain access to his vehicle? Schölermann willingly provided answers to that as well.

Schölermann has a wish

In fact, he had not locked the car: "My mistake, absolutely no question." At the same time, however, he also made it clear that he "doesn't want to lose this carefree attitude". In hindsight, he even wished he had woken up during the incident. Then he would have "explained to the man in a calm Sauerland manner that this is not okay".
