All the rumors about the new James Bond should come to an end in the coming months. Film producer Amy Pascal (68) has now hinted in a new interview when fans can finally expect the announcement.
Recently, there had been speculation that the new James Bond actor could be revealed as early as 2026. That's exactly what Pascal has now suggested in a conversation with the US industry publication "Deadline". "I would say the end of the year is a good bet," she explains.
They are approaching the matter really "very, very methodically." After working with Barbara Broccoli (66), she has to admit that it's difficult to follow in Daniel Craig's (58) footsteps. "And it has to be something completely different," Pascal says. The new approach needs to be "compelling and exciting and different."
The Many Bond Candidates
For nearly five years now, there has been speculation about who could follow Daniel Craig. The Brit played 007 in several Bond films, including in the most recent spy adventure No Time to Die, which was released at the end of 2021. With that film, Craig stepped down as Bond, and since then countless rumors have circulated about possible stars who could take over in the next installment. Fans and media have discussed potential actors in recent years including Richard Madden, Idris Elba, Henry Cavill, Tom Hardy, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jacob Elordi, and even Tom Holland.
Pascal is, in a sense, the new Bond boss alongside David Heyman (65). Amazon MGM Studios announced in March 2025 that the two would be holding the reins as producers on the next James Bond film. They thus took over from the producer duo of Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson (84), who had previously long guided Bond's fortunes and handed over creative control to Amazon MGM Studios. Denis Villeneuve (58) will direct the upcoming film.
The industry magazine Variety reported in mid-May 2026 that the official search for the next Bond through casting had been underway for a few weeks. "The search for the next James Bond has begun," stated Amazon MGM Studios in an available statement. "While we don't intend to discuss specific details during the casting process, we look forward to sharing more news with 007 fans when the time is right."
