Shia LaBeouf (40) apparently caused repeated tensions on the set of "Fury" (2014). His co-star at the time, Scott Eastwood (40), now recalls an incident where even Hollywood star Brad Pitt (62) had to intervene to prevent an escalation.
On the "Armchair Expert" podcast by Dax Shepard (51), Scott Eastwood spoke openly about working with Shia LaBeouf. When asked how he got along with his co-star, the actor responded: "Shia was obviously struggling with himself. It wasn't easy." He particularly remembers an incident where Brad Pitt had to intervene in a "small, tense moment".
What happened between Shia LaBeouf and Scott Eastwood?
According to Scott Eastwood, Shia LaBeouf pushed his method acting to the limits during filming. "I remember just thinking: Okay, this guy is crazy", the actor recalls in retrospect. For this reason, he consciously tried to stay out of his co-star's way as much as possible. For Eastwood, one thing is clear: there are many ways to prepare for a role - without losing sight of professional conduct on set.
"But one day he had a meltdown", Scott Eastwood recalled. About halfway through filming, Shia LaBeouf suddenly had a problem with Eastwood spitting chewing tobacco on a tank - even though that was exactly what the script called for. At some point, he had had enough. "That's when I said: That's enough. Stop your nonsense", the actor described. He even threatened LaBeouf that he would "kick his butt". However, before the situation could escalate, the other actors stepped in - including Brad Pitt, who ended the tense moment.
Many allegedly had problems with LaBeouf
According to Scott Eastwood, he wasn't alone in his experiences on set. "Everyone had their moments with Shia", the actor claimed. There were repeated situations where confrontations almost became physical. Later in the podcast, Eastwood then spoke generally about the film industry: "The film industry attracts psychopaths", he said, without explicitly naming Shia LaBeouf. As justification, he cited that film is both art and business - two worlds that often collide. Additionally, there is a lot of narcissism in Hollywood and generally "a lot of mental illness".
Shia LaBeouf has not yet commented on Scott Eastwood's account. However, Brad Pitt already spoke about the incident a few months after filming. In 2014, he told "GQ" magazine that he himself initially wasn't a fan of Eastwood spitting chewing tobacco on the tank. LaBeouf picked up on this reaction - but the situation quickly got out of hand. "Then I had to step in [...]", Pitt recalled. In hindsight, he looked at the script again and realized that Eastwood had simply done exactly what the scene required of him.
