Frank Buschmann (61) is saying goodbye. After already turning his back on the social media platforms Facebook and X according to his own statements, now comes the end on Instagram. Buschi, as the host and sports reporter is also often called, says farewell in a video. In it, he also explains why his currently around 226,000 followers will no longer be seeing posts from him in the future, or rather why he is turning away from Instagram.
As a well-known sports reporter, he briefly mentions in the clip from June 30 that the video is not going to be about the German national team's elimination from the currently ongoing World Cup. He wants to tell his followers "at this point that as of tomorrow, my social media presence will be completely finished. After Facebook and X, I will also be saying goodbye to Instagram."
What bothers Frank Buschmann about social media
Buschmann doesn't have to justify himself for this, because it is ultimately his very personal decision. But the host wants to explain his reasons to the fans. "The main reason is that I realize that all this madness isn't good for me", Buschi explains. He "doesn't feel like it anymore", how many people interact with each other on the internet and especially on social media. "It ticks me off, to put it somewhat more casually."
Buschmann further explains that he's primarily not talking about how people deal with his own posts. He has, for example, also laughed a lot with the fans. The problem already starts with the morning scrolling through Instagram. Buschmann speaks of "insanity, everything you encounter there".
"Social media ban for Frank Buschmann"
Professionally, he also doesn't want to deal with social media. He can't cope with these "apparently new requirements" for sports reporters. He knows that this is just the way it is today, everyone needs clicks and has to draw attention to themselves. Furthermore, there are many "experts" on social media who deny the "real experts their expertise". "I can't stand it anymore, I don't want it anymore", Buschmann sums up.
He has talked to people close to him about a "social media ban for Frank Buschmann". "We all believe that it's better. What I don't know won't hurt me", he adds. "I simply don't want to be aware of it anymore. It's that simple." His followers should take care of themselves and treat each other more carefully, at least in real life, Buschmann wishes.
