Batman fans will have to wait even longer: "The Batman Part II" is coming to theaters later than originally planned. However, director Matt Reeves sweetened the wait with a first teaser that provides a brief glimpse of Robert Pattinson (40) as the Dark Knight.
First Teaser Shows Batman in the Rain
On his social media channels, Reeves posted a short video showing Batman in his iconic costume. Accompanied by dramatic music, only the superhero's back is visible at first. He slowly turns toward the camera as rain falls and the blue lights of a police vehicle flash in the background. Then the film's logo appears - along with the new theatrical release date.
According to "Deadline", "The Batman Part II" is now scheduled to hit theaters in early 2028, specifically on February 18. Previously, the release was set for October 1, 2027.
Robert Pattinson Raved About the Script
Although fans will have to wait longer for the sequel, lead actor Robert Pattinson is raising high expectations for the film. At the premiere of his new film "The Drama", he described the script as "extraordinary."
The actor also revealed that the sequel will be significantly different from the first part. This surprised even him. "It's going to be a really special film," Pattinson said. The team is taking creative risks and breaking new ground.
Colin Farrell Also Shows Enthusiasm
Pattinson is not alone in his enthusiasm. Colin Farrell (50), who plays gangster boss Oswald "Oz" Cobb aka Penguin in the film series, also praised the script in the highest terms.
On the podcast "Happy Sad Confused", he called Reeves' work a "masterpiece" and spoke of an exceptionally intelligent and detailed script. Farrell also hinted that Batman will undergo an exciting development in the sequel.
Sequel to the Successful Batman Reboot
In addition to Pattinson and Farrell, Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, and German actor Sebastian Koch will be featured in the sequel.
"The Batman Part II" continues the story of the 2022 DC film "The Batman", in which Robert Pattinson first stepped into the role of the Dark Knight. The dark reboot was praised by critics and audiences alike and grossed several hundred million dollars worldwide.
