Actor Christian Ulmen (50) is taking legal action following the termination without notice of several contracts for a new streaming series. The Berlin Labor Court addresses the matter in a statement published on June 17. It explains that the court will hear arguments for the first time on June 22 regarding the validity of extraordinary terminations of four contracts with Christian Ulmen by a film production company in connection with the production of the series 'The Au Pair'.
Ulmen wrote the screenplay for 'The Au Pair'
Several contracts were terminated, according to the statement. Ulmen wrote the screenplay for the series. With the production company, which was not named, he concluded a directing contract, an author contract, and an editor contract, as well as an exclusivity agreement.
However, in a letter dated April 15, the company terminated these contracts without notice. According to the labor court, the production company justified this step by citing, among other things, the emergence of criminally relevant allegations against Mr. Ulmen and content parallels between these allegations and the plot of the series. The actor is suing against the termination of the contractual relationships and claims to have been employed as an employee. First, there will be a settlement hearing before the presiding judge.
In April, a report by ZEITmagazin revealed that the production with the working title 'The Au Pair' was originally intended for the streaming service Joyn. However, a broadcast is not planned for the foreseeable future.
Investigation proceedings initiated against Ulmen
TV host and actress Collien Fernandes (44) has publicly made serious allegations against her ex-husband Ulmen. Fernandes accuses him of creating fake profiles on the internet and distributing adult content designed to create the impression that the 44-year-old was involved. She went public with the accusations in a report by Spiegel in March 2026 for the first time.
A spokeswoman for the Potsdam Public Prosecutor's Office confirmed at the end of May, upon inquiry by Potsdamer Neuesten Nachrichten, that investigation proceedings were initiated against Ulmen following a complaint by Fernandes. After reviewing information submitted by Fernandes, initial suspicion was established regarding the allegation of bodily harm in the context of domestic violence. Christian Ulmen is presumed innocent until a legally binding conclusion of the proceedings.
