Madonna (67) has conquered the top of the US charts for the tenth time with her new studio album "Confessions II". For the pop icon, it's her first number-one success of the 2020s. Particularly remarkable is a look at her previous track record: According to "Billboard", Madonna is the first music act to place an album at number one in four different decades. She achieved three top positions in the 1980s, four in the 2000s, and two in the 2010s.
Only the Beatles Achieved Something Comparable
With this success, Madonna enters an extremely exclusive circle. According to "People", she is, alongside the Beatles, the only music act that can claim at least ten number-one successes in both the Billboard 200 and the British album charts as well as in the Billboard Hot 100 and the British singles charts. In the US album charts, "Confessions II" is also already her 24th top-ten album.
In Germany, however, the Queen of Pop only reached number two. At the top of the Official German Album Charts, determined by GfK Entertainment, Finch maintains its position with "Aussenseiter Spitzenreiter".
Madonna's new album was released on July 3 and follows up on "Confessions on a Dance Floor" from 2005. Once again, Madonna brought producer Stuart Price on board, who had already shaped the predecessor. "Confessions II" is her first studio album since "Madame X" from 2019. The first single, "Bring Your Love" featuring Sabrina Carpenter, was released in advance.
