"What went wrong?", countless soccer fans who had watched the 2-1 defeat on TV must have asked themselves after the final whistle of the Germany versus Ecuador match. Cologne native Stefan Raab (59) was even able to ask himself this question live at MetLife Stadium in the US state of New Jersey. The host and entertainer was spotted in the stands, leaning over a railing in high spirits, apparently catching a T-shirt and being admiringly observed by surrounding Germany and Raab fans.
Heidi Klum's (53) husband Tom Kaulitz (36) was also at the stadium. While the footage of Stefan Raab was apparently taken before kickoff, Kaulitz was likely captured at a later point in the match - his significantly more serious expression certainly suggests so. With crossed arms and an unhappy look, the Tokio Hotel guitarist followed the action on the field. Until recently, the 36-year-old had been working as a fan expert for MagentaTV at the World Cup.
First politician, then fan
Julia Klöckner (53), President of the German Bundestag, also watched the German national team's final group match at the stadium. While singing along to the national anthem, she initially wore a pale pink blazer over her white Germany jersey. As the match progressed, she then took it off - showing herself entirely as a fan.
The well-deserved defeat against Ecuador likely gnawed at the mood of German soccer fans. However, it doesn't change anything about the situation for the German national team: Germany finishes Group E in first place and will face a third-place group finisher next Monday at 10:30 PM at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough near Boston. Which national team it will be won't be determined until the course of the weekend. However, it will definitely be a team from Groups A, B, C, D, or F.
