Italian singer Al Bano Carrisi is taking the plunge into marriage for the second time. The 83-year-old will marry his longtime partner Loredana Lecciso (53). The musician announced this on TV, according to the Italian newspaper Il Messaggero. In a recording of the show Storie al bivio di sera, he reportedly said: "The wedding with Loredana? Now I know, I'm certain, it will happen."

Given their shared family, it is the right step. "We have overcome many difficulties, and today she is the woman I have always wanted, the mother of two wonderful children who has been by my side for 26 years," said Al Bano. He is "completely happy."

Al Bano already wanted to marry in 2013

The musician and the entertainer, who is around 30 years younger, met in Lecce, according to Il Messaggero, when they were accompanying their children from previous marriages to school. Their daughter Jasmine was born in 2001, followed by their son Albano Jr. in 2002. However, their relationship went through crises: the couple once separated but found their way back together. In 2013, Al Bano announced for the first time that he wanted to marry his partner. However, the wedding never took place.

Now the Italian pop singer is really supposed to tie the knot with his partner. For both, it is their second marriage. In 1970, Al Bano married his singing partner Romina Power (74); the couple separated in 1999. Together they welcomed four children - and experienced a tragedy. Their eldest daughter Ylenia Carrisi disappeared in New Orleans in 1994. She was declared dead in 2014.

Loredana Lecciso was previously married to Fabio Cazzato, with whom she has a daughter. The marriage lasted about three years.
