The joy over the new family home in Berlin was short-lived for Lena Gercke (38). As the model shows in her Instagram story, there was water damage shortly after moving in. This is not the first time Gercke has dealt with water damage. The mother of two now speaks of a veritable curse herself.

A bathroom was already flooded during renovation

"Everything that happened over the weekend", Gercke wrote alongside an image that apparently shows a basement room. Next to stacked boxes, a large puddle of water can be seen. "And I do love summer rain... just not in the house." Apparently, the storm-like thunderstorms that caused damage in parts of Berlin also affected Gercke and her partner Dustin Schöne.

In a short video, the 38-year-old then expresses surprise at the frequency of such cases. It is "really, really strange", Gercke says. "No matter where I move or move into, the very first thing that always happens is water damage." She doesn't know what the significance of this is, "but it sticks to me, this curse".

Even during the extensive renovation work on the house, there had been a water problem. In early December 2025, Lena Gercke shared that workers had accidentally drilled into the underfloor heating. After that, the bathroom was flooded, which actually wasn't supposed to be renovated.

Heat and many emotions made the move difficult

The move itself was anything but easy: The heat wave of recent days took its toll on the family and the helpers. "Moving in 34-degree weather means lots of ice cream", the 38-year-old emphasized in a post in which she gave insights into the chaos of boxes and furniture.

In addition, the move was apparently not easy emotionally for Lena Gercke either. The winner of the first "Germany's next Topmodel" season from 2006 had collected many memories in her previous apartment - especially from the first years of her two daughters' lives. Sorting out the baby clothes also visibly affected her, as she showed a few weeks ago in an Instagram story. "It's so hard for me to part with all the baby things. Look, this little hat", she said at the time and added: "My heart is bleeding."
