Anne Schedeen (1949-2026) has passed away. The actress, who became known as Kate Tanner in the cult series "Alf", passed away at 77. Her family announced this on the actress's official Facebook page. "It is with a heavy heart that we must share that Annie has peacefully passed away", her relatives wrote. They also posted a picture of the deceased with the famous Alf puppet. They did not provide a cause of death.

"She leaves behind an extraordinary legacy of creative energy, sharp humor, delight in her family, love of small dogs, burning hatred of Trump, passion for thrift stores, and love of a good story", the text states.

"We feel lost without her", the family continued. "We loved her so much, as did everyone who met her."

"She was a force", Anne Schedeen's relatives wrote. Life without her is "unimaginable". But she always said: "I am always with you". And she was right about that. Because: "The memories, the artworks, the hearty laughter, the handmade jewelry, the oil paintings, the sculptures, the costumes, and her entire zest for life live on". "Raise a margarita in her honor", the actress's family calls on her fans.

Anne Schedeen was born on January 8, 1949, in Portland, Oregon, with the name Luanne Ruth Schedeen. She grew up on a farm. After studying in Portland, she moved to New York to become an actress.

Anne Schedeen: Known as Kate Tanner in "Alf"

In the 1970s, Anne Schedeen appeared in various series such as "The Six Million Dollar Man". In the medical drama "Marcus Welby, M.D., she played the daughter of the title character. One of her rare forays into cinema was the thriller "Embryo" with Rock Hudson.

In the 1980s, guest appearances in series such as "Magnum" or "Cheers" followed, before she landed a main role in "Alf" from 1986 to 1990. She played Kate Tanner in the cult sitcom, the mother of a family that takes in the titular alien. She once described the elaborate filming with the Alf puppet as a "technical nightmare".

After the end of "Alf", Anne Schedeen worked only sporadically as an actress. She was instead active as an antiques dealer and set decorator.

Anne Schedeen is survived by her husband Christopher Barrett, to whom she was married for 55 years. Their marriage produced daughter Taylor.
