Sports presenter Laura Wontorra (37) is further fueling the rumor mill: On Sunday, she shared a mirror selfie in her Instagram story showing her together with her colleague Riccardo Basile (34) in front of the New York skyline. Both are smiling at the camera. A few hours later, Basile picked up the photo and also posted it in his story.
It is the first joint photo of the two TV personalities from recent weeks that they have shared via social media - and thus the clearest sign yet, after speculation about a possible relationship had been circulating for some time. However, Wontorra and Basile have not officially confirmed their love yet.
Shared Days in New York
Laura Wontorra is currently in the USA for work, where she is reporting on the FIFA World Cup for MagentaTV. In the days before, both had repeatedly shared impressions from New York on their accounts, also noticeably often from the same locations, but never together in a picture. According to their Instagram posts, they presumably visited together, among other places, the famous Museum of Modern Art and the Brooklyn Bridge.
Speculation about a relationship between the two has been ongoing for weeks. "Bunte" and "Bild" reported in early June and late May respectively, in agreement, that Wontorra and Basile are a couple. Wontorra has been one of Germany's most well-known sports presenters for years and was most recently working for DAZN and MagentaTV, among others. Riccardo Basile is also a familiar face in the industry: He has been in front of the camera for Sky Deutschland since 2017. Among other things, he was for a long time co-host of Laura's father Jörg Wontorra (77) on his football talk show.
End of Marriage with Simon Zoller
Before her presumed new relationship, Laura Wontorra was married to former professional footballer Simon Zoller (35). The two met in 2013, and their wedding followed in 2016. In November 2022, they announced the end of their marriage. While Zoller made his new love public shortly thereafter and has since remarried, Wontorra had been considered single since then. Basile made headlines with his relationship with "Bachelor" winner Clea-Lacy Juhn (35). The two were together from late 2019 until September 2022.
