Sean "Diddy" Combs (56) will likely be released from custody earlier than previously expected. The Federal Bureau of Prisons, the U.S. agency responsible for federal prisons, now lists in the database accessible on its website February 23, 2028 as the anticipated release date.
The release date has thus been changed again. In recent months, the information on the website has been adjusted multiple times. Most recently, April 15, 2028 was listed as the corresponding date. Previously, according to information there, the release was scheduled for April 25, 2028 - and before that for June 4, 2028. This would shorten the rapper and hip-hop mogul's prison sentence by another few weeks. No reason was provided.
In connection with the date being moved from June to April 2028, "Page Six" reported that the adjustment was likely related to Combs' participation in a substance rehabilitation program. Such steps can accordingly reduce prison sentences in the United States. A spokesperson for the rapper reportedly emphasized at the time of enrollment in the program that the 56-year-old was taking the matter seriously and was actively working toward positive changes.
Appeal Process Still Ongoing
Combs was found guilty in July 2025 in a high-profile trial in connection with offenses related to the business of providing companionship services, and was acquitted of other charges. The sentence of 50 months in prison was announced in October 2025.
Combs' legal team is challenging the conviction. An appeal was filed in December. In a brief filed in March, the attorneys called the sentence, according to U.S. magazine "People", a "perversion of justice" and demanded a reversal of the verdict and immediate release of their client - or at least a remand to a lower court and a resentencing.
