Numerous celebrities were on site cheering during the World Cup final. Hollywood legend Richard Gere (76) also sat in the stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Sunday, July 19, rooting for Spain. His wife Alejandra Silva Gere (43) is from Spain. She subsequently shared numerous insights into the experience, which apparently also became a special blended family moment.
On her Instagram account, she also posted a photo showing her next to her famous husband - and a pixelated boy who, according to "People", is likely 13-year-old Albert Friedland. He is from the Spaniard's previous relationship. Public appearances by the family are rare, as Richard Gere and his wife raise their children away from the spotlight. To protect her son's privacy, she blurred his face before posting.
Another photo shows the couple with Javier Bardem (57). The two actors each held up one side of a Spanish jersey, with Alejandra beaming at the camera between them. She also posted clips from the halftime show, where Shakira, Madonna, BTS and Justin Bieber performed together for eleven minutes.
Unforgettable moments
She then summarized her impressions in a longer, emotional post. "There are moments that you know you will never forget for the rest of your life, and today we had the incredible fortune to experience one such moment in New Jersey, surrounded by family, friends and thousands of people who shared the same excitement", she wrote in Spanish. Witnessing the achievement of the World Cup title was "a mixture of joy, nervousness, hugs and pride". "It was one of those experiences that reminds you how wonderful it is to celebrate together and feel connected through a shared dream."
Later, she also shared footage with her husband and several of the national team players. It was a "privilege" to celebrate with the protagonists who are "now part of history".
The family moved to Spain in 2024
For Alejandra Silva Gere, this wasn't her first stadium visit of the summer. She was already in the stands with two of her sons during Spain's semifinal victory against France on July 14, and posted a whole series of photos afterwards, including a selfie in a white jersey with a matching skirt, while the boys wore red and blue.
The couple has two sons together, Alexander (7) and James (6). Gere is also father to Homer (26) from his marriage to Carey Lowell, and his wife brought Albert from her relationship with Govind Friedland. The actor and the Spaniard married in 2018, and six years later announced their move from the USA to Spain. However, in fall 2025, they returned to the USA.
