Prince Harry (41) spoke surprisingly openly about his family life during his appearance in Birmingham. The Duke of Sussex had traveled to the city to kick off the countdown to the Invictus Games 2027. For the ITV show "This Morning", he met host Alison Hammond (51) there, who promptly asked the 41-year-old about his wife Meghan and their two children.
Hammond wanted to know whether his loved ones actually told him every day how proud they were of his commitment to wounded soldiers and veterans. Harry remained honest. "They don't tell me every day that they're proud of me. But yes, I'm proud of them. They're proud of me", the Prince answered. Then he added the crucial sentence: "I love my family."
Another detail revealed how close his children are to him. Because Hammond can also be seen on television as host of a well-known baking show, Harry couldn't resist a hint: Archie and Lilibet apparently love the children's version "Junior Bake Off".
Meghan not planning public appearances in the United Kingdom
Meghan (44) and the children Archie (7) and Lilibet (5) were actually supposed to accompany him. But the Duchess of Sussex withdrew her participation. Security concerns are cited as the reason. According to media reports, the family still wants to travel to the United Kingdom, for their first joint visit to England in four years. However, public appearances by Meghan and the children are not planned. The family was last together in the United Kingdom in 2022, at that time for Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee.
For Harry and Meghan, the Invictus Games also have personal significance. At the 2017 edition in Toronto, they appeared together publicly for the first time. They have also attended one-year countdown events together in the past, including before the 2023 Games in Düsseldorf and the 2025 Games in Canada.
