It was supposed to be a pure football evening, but at times a celebrity show of its own unfolded in the stands of SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Right in the middle: Penélope Cruz (52) and Javier Bardem (57). The Spanish acting couple watched from the stands as the Spanish national team prevailed 3-0 against Austria at the 2026 World Cup. When the big screens captured the two Oscar winners, cheers erupted in the stadium.
Cruz, who lives with Bardem in Los Angeles, wore the classic red Spanish jersey, along with a baseball cap and sunglasses. Bardem, on the other hand, opted for a simple green T-shirt. And that's exactly what quickly became a topic in his homeland: Among others, the Spanish edition of Huffington Post reported that the actor wasn't wearing a national team jersey during the Selección's appearance. Just a few weeks earlier, he had been seen wearing a Paris Saint-Germain jersey at a league match, apparently having no issues with wearing jerseys.
Singer Rosalía was also in the stadium
Cruz and Bardem first met in 1992 during the filming of Jamón, Jamón. They tied the knot in 2010. Today they have two children together, son Leo and daughter Luna. Cruz and Bardem were far from the only familiar faces in the stands. Sitting right next to Cruz was Spanish singer Rosalía (33), who was in Los Angeles for concerts at the time. When Spain sealed the victory, she reportedly jumped up and celebrated along, according to consistent media reports.
Prominent Spanish guests from the football world also stopped by: World champion and Ballon d'Or winner Alexia Putellas (32) was spotted, as were former Spanish national team players and world champions Carles Puyol (48) and David Villa (44).
