Zahara Jolie-Pitt (21) is moving closer to the final removal of her last name. As the US portal "TMZ" reports, citing court documents, the daughter of Brad Pitt (62) and Angelina Jolie (51) has cleared one of the hurdles required in California for a name change. In the future, she wants to be called only Zahara Marley Jolie, thereby dropping her father's last name. She announced this - just like her brother Maddox (24) - in newspaper notices.

To legally prepare for the change, Zahara published a notice in the "Los Angeles Daily Journal" weekly for four weeks, as required by her petition. Anyone who had objections to the name change was asked to file a written objection before the final hearing. The notice appeared on June 16, 23, and 30, as well as July 7.

Judge to decide in September

The 21-year-old had already filed her petition in June, as "TMZ" further reported. Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt is to become Zahara Marley Jolie. The next date is set for September 28: At the hearing, a judge can approve the request, provided no objection has been filed by then. Zahara hasn't been using her father's last name for quite some time anyway. The legal step would now make the separation official.

Maddox also wants to be called only "Maddox Chivan Jolie" in the future. His corresponding notices appeared according to "Page Six" on June 10, 17, 24, and July 1, also in the "Los Angeles Daily Journal".

Sister Shiloh led the way

Within the family, the two are not the first to take this path. Their sister Shiloh (20) had published a similar notice before officially dropping the name "Pitt" in 2024. Sister Vivienne (18) has also not appeared publicly under the name Pitt for several years.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who were long considered Hollywood's dream couple under the name "Brangelina", have three biological children: Shiloh and the twins Vivienne and Knox (18). In addition, the actor assumed the father role for his then-partner's three adopted children during the relationship: Maddox, Zahara, and Pax (22).

Jolie and Pitt met in 2004 on the set of the film "Mr. & Mrs. Smith". After two years of marriage, Jolie filed for divorce in 2016 - the step was preceded by an incident aboard a private jet. The former partners fought in court for eight years before settling their divorce in December 2024. A legal dispute over their shared winery in Southern France is still ongoing.
