Anyone who recently had Andrew Garfield (42) in mind with a neat short haircut probably took a second look this weekend. At the tennis tournament in Wimbledon, the actor showed up on Saturday (July 4) with long, deliberately tousled locks and a full beard. He also came in the company of his girlfriend Monica Barbaro (36).
Garfield was dressed, according to Just Jared, in a light blue Ralph Lauren suit, his shirt casually unbuttoned, his curls disheveled. Barbaro opted for contrast: an all-white outfit, also from Ralph Lauren.
Celebrity turnout in the Ralph Lauren suite
The two were not alone. Ralph Lauren, British Vogue, and GQ had invited numerous celebrities to the Championships on Saturday - including to the brand's newly opened Polo Bar directly at Centre Court. Among the afternoon's hosts was also Vogue icon Anna Wintour, who took a seat next to Garfield.
For Garfield and Barbaro, this was no random visit: the two have been a couple for more than a year, and last year they had already stopped by Wimbledon together. The tennis summer seems to be becoming something of a fixed ritual for the couple.
Together on camera
What connects them is now much more than the Wimbledon grass. Garfield and Barbaro are starring together in the film Artificial - a project that recently made headlines. Amazon MGM Studios had unexpectedly removed the film from its slate before distributor Neon secured the rights. Artificial is set to be sent into the race for major film awards later this year. The studio has so far kept under wraps what exactly it's about. The material was previously described as a comedic drama set in the world of artificial intelligence. The events of 2023 are to be told, when OpenAI chief Sam Altman - played by Garfield - was dismissed and shortly thereafter rehired.
