Natalia Avelon (46) has published the first pictures of her wedding to TV producer Otto Steiner (63). On Instagram, the actress shows a series of black-and-white photos from the day and writes: "Mr. & Mrs. Steiner!" The couple had already gotten married on July 1, but only made the ceremony public later.
The 46-year-old can be seen in several photos wearing an off-the-shoulder wedding dress, paired with a hat with a bow. Her husband opted for a suit all in white. A video shows the bride jumping exuberantly into the air with several guests, another snapshot shows her sitting on the ground, surrounded by flower petals.
However, it wasn't a glossy wedding, as Avelon writes: "It was an unforgettable day that we will carry in our hearts forever!" she says in her post.
The rings almost floated away
The weather had interfered significantly on that day. "It poured with rain! Our rings almost floated away on the street! The guests were soaked!" reports the actress. The planned summer barbecue was hastily moved to the living room. Instead of giving up, the bridal couple made a last-minute trip to local drugstores for colorful umbrellas and got heart-shaped glasses for the guests. They simply danced in the rain. Two pictures show the bridal couple standing under umbrellas.
Added to this were two injuries that had already slowed both of them down before the ceremony. Avelon had suffered a third-degree burn the day before while steam-ironing the tablecloths, which according to her "keeps me on my toes to this day." She told "Bunte" that three days later she had spent six hours in the emergency room. She only understood the extent afterwards: "On the wedding day itself, I was full of happiness and adrenaline, dancing for hours in high heels, and didn't even notice the extent of it." Her husband, meanwhile, had wrenched his back while carrying things and had to go to the orthopedist. "We were both pretty battered when we stood before the mayor of Oberhaching for the ceremony," Steiner told the magazine. It still became "a very cheerful, exuberant day."
"Perhaps a small metaphor for a marriage"
From the chaos, Avelon draws a conclusion that sounds like a life motto. "You should celebrate life as it comes and make the best of every moment life gives you!" she writes. In the end, you always have everything in your own hands. "We didn't let anything take away our joy! The main thing is authenticity. From the heart. Perhaps the circumstances were a small metaphor for a marriage... through thick and thin."
She explicitly thanks her photographer Elena Zaucke for "capturing such beautiful, loving moments." Around 500 photos were taken, and her eyes are closed in only three of them, as Avelon admits. The couple is keeping the family photos to themselves.
The proposal came in a bathrobe
The two had only gotten engaged at the end of March, on Avelon's birthday, during a road trip through Italy. "It went across Lake Garda all the way to Venice," Steiner told "Bunte." "On Natalia's birthday, after we had toasted to her, I got down on my knees in front of her in a bathrobe on the balcony at the Canal Grande." No tears were shed. "I always thought you cry from happiness in such a moment. But we laughed ourselves silly with joy and were thrilled!" said the actress.
For Avelon, this is her first marriage. Steiner was in a relationship with actress Mimi Fiedler from 2017 to 2023 and married her in 2019; in 2023, Fiedler announced their separation.
