Millie Bobby Brown (22) rose to worldwide fame early on through her role as Eleven in the Netflix series "Stranger Things". However, at a young age, she also suffered a bitter setback that left deep marks on her, as she revealed on "Lie vs Lie" by "Entertainment Weekly". On the show, stars tell each other stories and then have to guess whether they are true or false.
Role went to Dafne Keen
"I auditioned with Hugh Jackman when I was like 11 or 12", the 22-year-old told her "Enola Holmes 3" colleague Louis Partridge (23). It was for one of the "Wolverine" films. When Partridge asked how she felt after leaving the room at the time, Brown explained that she felt "broken" and believed that she probably wouldn't get the role because someone else was better.
Partridge found the story credible and pointed out that there would have been a suitable role for her in the 2017 film "Logan - The Wolverine": that of the mutant Laura/X-23. This character was ultimately taken on by the then eleven-year-old Dafne Keen. Brown then confirmed that her story was true - and that she had deliberately wanted to mislead Partridge with the general term "Wolverine films".
The breakthrough came with "Stranger Things"
Even though Brown, who has been married to Jake Bongiovi (24) since 2024, didn't land the coveted role, she found her way into the world of science fiction and the supernatural: Over five seasons, she portrayed the character Eleven in the Netflix series "Stranger Things", which started in 2016. She commented on the end of filming in December 2024 with an Instagram post in which she shared photos from her years on set and a video of her emotional farewell speech. In it, she compared the last day of shooting to a graduation. "Isn't graduation supposed to bring relief? Like, you're glad to leave the teachers and classmates behind. For me, it's not like that. I'm far from ready to let you go", Brown said in the clip.
