Beverley Sisters were among Britain's great stars
The three sisters grew up together in the London district of Bethnal Green. The Beverley Sisters became famous in the postwar period and became stars in Britain, especially in the 1950s and 1960s. The three sisters' hits included Christmas songs such as a version of the song "The Little Drummer Boy" as well as versions of the songs "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" and "Little Donkey".
They gained fame through numerous appearances on radio and television, among other things. The versatile trio also had their own TV show on the BBC. In the 50s and 60s, the Beverley Sisters were even regarded as the highest-paid female entertainers in Britain.
Teddie Beverley's sister Joy and her twin sister Babs, who were also members of the trio, died several years ago. Babette Chinery (Babs), born in 1927, passed away in 2018. Just over three years earlier, the oldest of the sisters, Joycelyn Chinery (Joy), died from the consequences of a stroke, as British media reported at the time.
