Martin Brambach (58) has changed his daily routine. The "Tatort" actor now jogs for half an hour every morning, followed by yoga and a hundred push-ups, as he told the "Bild" newspaper. The reason for this change was a four-day hospital stay in May.
"Since the hospital, I've really intensified my morning sports routine", Brambach tells the paper. Tennis and cycling were already part of his life before, but now he's added regular gym visits and a new tennis team.
"Life is finite"
According to Brambach, the driving force behind this new sports motivation isn't his own ailments, but rather encounters with fellow patients. "During my hospital stay, I saw the fates of other people who told me about their suffering and many operations", says the crime drama star. "That's when I realized: Life is finite. It triggered something in me."
However, there's one thing Brambach can't give up despite all his focus on health: He's still a smoker. "I hope that I'll quit someday", he emphasizes.
No specific diagnosis
In early May, Martin Brambach contacted his fans from the clinic and canceled an event "for health reasons". He doesn't want to publicly disclose why he had to receive hospital treatment after a routine examination. For him and his family, the situation was a shock, he reports to "Bild". "Since I had great doctors and good advice, it passed relatively quickly. I'm doing very well health-wise."
He therefore looks optimistically toward the coming years: "I'll turn 60 next year. I feel right now like I could live to be 80 or 90." Hopefully Brambach will remain on screen for audiences for a long time to come: Since 2016, he's been investigating in the Dresden "Tatort" as Detective Chief Inspector Peter Michael Schnabel, currently alongside Cornelia Gröschel (38) as Leonie Winkler.
