Lionel Richie (77) has returned to the stage - one week after the R&B singer had to cut short a concert in Minnesota. On the opening night of his "Sing a Song All Night Long" tour with Earth, Wind & Fire, he struggled with dizziness. "I gave you a bit of a scare there, didn't I?", he joked according to local news site "TribLive" during the show in Pittsburgh, which marked his comeback. "You have no idea what I've been through in the last 24 hours, with my friends giving me their advice on what I should do."
Lionel Richie apparently did not reveal exactly what health issues he dealt with last week. But after the rest period prescribed by doctors, the 77-year-old appeared to be in great form during his stage comeback, as can be seen in videos on social media.
Two concerts were postponed
After the concert cancellation at the tour opener, a statement from Live Nation Chicago on June 25 said that the star's planned consecutive performances in Chicago (June 26) and Columbus, Ohio, (June 27) had to be postponed "on doctors' advice". Lionel Richie needed the time to rest and fully recover, the organizers explained.
As both celebrity portal "TMZ" and "Page Six" reported, the singer was initially taken to a local clinic after becoming dizzy on stage. This was said to be a precautionary measure.
A few days ago, Richie's ex-wife, Brenda Harvey Richie, posted an update on X about the singer's health condition. She wrote: "Thank you all for your concern! Lionel is fine and he will be back on stage." His tour with Earth, Wind & Fire consists of a total of 26 dates and is scheduled to run until August 14.
