A few months after two former housekeepers of Kylie Jenner (28) sued the entrepreneur and reality TV personality, a third former employee has also filed a lawsuit, according to consistent US media reports. A private chef alleges against Jenner and former supervisors, among other things, that she suffered a miscarriage due to an excessive workload.
According to the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles on Monday, the woman, who was pregnant at the time, was required to work long shifts and perform physically demanding tasks even though she had informed supervisors that hers was a high-risk pregnancy, the "Los Angeles Times" reports. "Today" and "Entertainment Weekly" report accordingly.
Plaintiff allegedly suffered miscarriage after severe physical strain
Around Thanksgiving in 2024, the woman was assigned as Jenner's private chef. In December, she informed her supervisors that she was three months pregnant and that "appropriate precautions to protect her health and her pregnancy" needed to be taken, the "Los Angeles Times" reports, citing the lawsuit.
On New Year's Eve, the supervisors, who were reportedly hostile, ordered her to transport heavy groceries. The plaintiff became dizzy, gasped for air, and security personnel had to help her. In February, the woman, who was then in her fifth month of pregnancy, was accordingly assigned to cook for a birthday party for one of Jenner's children. The supervisors ignored her requests for help and her concerns.
Due to the strain and her exhaustion, the plaintiff had an emotional breakdown in the bathroom during the party. After feeling severely exhausted in the evening, she woke up the next morning with heavy bleeding. In the emergency room, she was told that no heartbeat could be detected in her unborn child. A few days later, the woman suffered heavy bleeding again and collapsed. After a miscarriage, she struggled with severe depression, according to the lawsuit. "Stop it, just stop. You're irritating Kylie. You're making her depressed," a supervisor reportedly reprimanded her.
Damages in unspecified amount demanded
Jenner's former private chef is seeking damages in an unspecified amount. She is suing, among other things, for not being paid on time for the hours worked, for discrimination based on her pregnancy, harassment, and wrongful termination. Just because someone is a celebrity doesn't exempt that person from complying with California labor laws, explained the plaintiff's attorney, Della Shaker. She also represents two other former Jenner employees who have previously filed lawsuits. There has been no statement from Jenner's side so far.
