For the Spaniards, it's their second world championship title after 2010, and the first for midfielder Dani Olmo (28). In the stands at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, his girlfriend, German influencer Laura Abla (27), was cheering him on enthusiastically - in a very special outfit. Afterwards, she celebrated her beloved on the field and online.
"Suddenly my roommate is world champion?????"
In a story, the East Frisian native, whose real name is Laura Schmitt, shared a video showing tears running down her face. The title she gave the clip was self-ironic: "Crybaby." She wrote: "Suddenly my roommate is world champion?????" She usually refers to her partner as "roommate" on her account. She had previously revealed that she was "excited, nervous and proud" before kickoff and had already cried several times. She also captured Sunday evening's triumph in an Instagram post. Alongside a picture from the stadium showing her holding the trophy while Dani Olmo kisses her temple, she gushed: "YOUUUUUU forever."
Jacket made from his jersey
Laura Abla was regularly at the stadium throughout the World Cup, cheering Olmo on. Her wardrobe in particular attracted attention. The German model was reported on worldwide, with fashion sites naming her the best-dressed player's wife of the tournament. She had also thought of a special outfit for the final: she had a distressed-look jacket made from one of her partner's jerseys in South Korea. She revealed that it was made and transported to New York within just four days. She also emphasized in her story that it makes her proud that her approximately 500,000 followers celebrate her outfits. For the final, she wanted to appear as a "cool girl."
A couple since spring 2023
The German influencer and the Spanish professional player are said to have been a couple since spring 2023, and she made the relationship official at the turn of 2023/2024 with a joint photo. She already has a marriage behind her, having been married to a Turkish man and lived in Turkey. That's also where the name she's known by today originated: "Abla," which means "big sister" in Turkish. Laura Abla works as a model and content creator and moved to Spain with Dani Olmo, with whom she was already in a relationship during his time at RB Leipzig, after his transfer to FC Barcelona in summer 2024.
For Laura, the love for the Spanish national team player is apparently something very special. In an interview with the German "Cosmopolitan," she described the partnership with Olmo as her "first healthy relationship" and explained: "I am 1000 percent myself. I can be 1000 percent myself, no matter how crazy my dreams or my goals are."
