King Charles III (77) and Queen Camilla (78) visited the London Zoo on Thursday. The occasion for the visit was the 200th anniversary of the Zoological Society of London, which operates the zoo in Regent's Park. For Charles, it was his first visit to the facility since he took on the patronage of the Zoological Society. This role has been assigned to every British monarch since 1828.
At the so-called Penguin Beach, the enclosure for the Humboldt penguins, the two paused and listened to the heartbeat of one of the animals, as footage of the event shows and the "Daily Mail" reports, among others. Before that, the cheerful couple greeted the onlookers who had gathered in front of the zoo gates. As a passionate nature lover, the King was in the best of spirits during the tour and posed together with his wife for the photographers, appearing buoyant in the summer heat of over 30 degrees Celsius.

Fashion-wise, the Queen embraced the theme of the day. She appeared in a white dress with animal print. Camilla protected herself from the sun with an umbrella. The country is currently in the midst of a summer full of heat waves. Charles, meanwhile, wore sunglasses.
William Visits Fishermen, Harry Visits Sick Children
King Charles' immediate family was also present at various events on Thursday. Crown Prince William (44) traveled to Hastings, where he met with fishermen and visited local youth and community projects, among other activities. Prince Harry (41), who is also currently in his home country, visited a children's hospital in Birmingham. During his tour of the wards, Harry spoke with several patients.
Harry had already arrived in London on Monday. His five-day stay marks, among other things, the one-year countdown to the next Invictus Games, which are scheduled to take place in Birmingham starting July 10, 2027.
