After several months of a legal battle, there has been a surprising settlement in the divorce of Kevin Costner (68) and his former partner, Christine Baumgartner (49). The 'divorce war' between the actor and his ex is "now history," according to a report by U.S. celebrity portal 'TMZ'.

Baumgartner reportedly agreed to the terms of a three-page letter over the weekend. No details of the agreement are known, but a spokesperson for the Hollywood star confirmed the development. "Kevin and Christine Costner have reached an amicable and mutually agreed upon resolution of all matters regarding their divorce proceedings," reads a statement from both parties, which was obtained by U.S. magazine 'People'.

Separation after 18 years of marriage

In early May, it became known that the couple was divorcing after about 18 years of marriage. A spokesman for the actor had confirmed this to 'TMZ' and explained in a statement that Costner regretted the situation. The circumstances that had led to the filing for divorce were beyond his control, he said. Baumgartner had filed for divorce and had given "irreconcilable differences" as the reason.

The Hollywood star is represented by the famous US divorce lawyer Laura Wasser (55). Baumgartner in particular has recently suffered defeats in court. According to corresponding media reports, she not only had to move out of the joint house after a court order, but is also to receive only just under 63,000 U.S. dollars per month in maintenance for the three joint children. Baumgartner had originally demanded between about 160,000 and 175,000 dollars.
