Model and actress Kaia Gerber (24) writes fanfiction - but nobody is allowed to read it. She revealed this on Jake Shane's (26) podcast Therapuss, one day after the premiere of her series The Shards. "It's so much fun to write something, even if you don't publish it anywhere," said the daughter of Cindy Crawford (60) and Rande Gerber (64). "For example, I write fanfiction and don't publish it anywhere, I just enjoy doing it."
Gerber left it open what her stories are about. When asked, she remained completely silent at first. Then she did reveal one detail: "It's not a person. That's it, next question."
Gerber has talked about the topic before
It wasn't the first time Gerber mentioned her hobby. In an Instagram clip from British outlet VT, she played a rating game together with her series co-star Graham Campbell. The question came up whether adults who write fanfiction should be judged for it. Campbell responded that it was better than if children wrote such stories. "That wasn't even the question," Gerber replied laughing, and added: "Do you know that I write fanfiction?"
When Campbell asked back what kind, she answered: "I don't know if I've ever talked about this publicly, but I actually write it. Not under my name, but I write fanfiction." She didn't reveal what kind it was. When Campbell kept probing, she ended the topic here as well: "Don't worry about it. Let's move on."
She is interested in literature
That Gerber is interested in literature is not new. Already in 2020, she started her own book club, which she initially ran via social media and YouTube, often in conversation with authors. As an official project under the name Library Science, the club launched in March 2024, together with Alyssa Reeder.
The Shards: Her new series
In The Shards, Gerber plays Susan Reynolds, Campbell can be seen as Thom Wright. The series is based on the novel of the same name by Bret Easton Ellis (62) and was developed for FX by series creator Ryan Murphy (60). In this country, the series can be seen on Disney Plus.
In glamorous Los Angeles in 1981, the privileged life of a clique of wealthy private school students is shaken by the arrival of mysterious new student Robert Mallory (Homer Gere). At the same time, a sadistic serial killer named "Trawler" terrorizes the city, whereupon 17-year-old protagonist Bret Easton Ellis (Igby Rigney) increasingly becomes obsessed with the idea that the new classmate has something to do with the brutal crimes.
