Jon Bon Jovi (64) has shared a positive update on his health following vocal cord surgery. In an interview with "People" magazine, the musician talks about how he's doing shortly before he goes on tour again with his band for the first time in July.

"I have fully recovered", Jon Bon Jovi explains. He also reports that he worked intensively with vocal coaches for years and completed targeted vocal exercises to get his voice back in shape. "It took longer than I ever expected, but it had to be done right. We never lost faith", he says.

Band was by his side

The 64-year-old emphasizes that he has "never done anything that would have damaged the vocal cords" and didn't party excessively either. As a "trained singer", he knows how to protect his voice from serious damage. The diagnosis was all the more surprising for him: "When a doctor then had to explain to me that one of the vocal cords was literally atrophying, it was confusing."

During his recovery, his band provided significant support. "They never doubted me and never looked for work elsewhere or decided to retire. The sacrifices that each and every one of them made to be there for me are simply on a whole different level", the singer says, adding: "They said: 'No, we're standing behind you.' Every day, at every rehearsal, they were there with me. My love for them has only grown."

Tour begins in July

The upcoming "Bon Jovi Forever" tour starts at the beginning of July with nine concerts at Madison Square Garden in New York. The band will then travel to Europe, where performances in Edinburgh, London and Dublin are planned. The tour follows a long phase of rehabilitation and uncertainty. In 2022, Jon Bon Jovi underwent vocal cord surgery. The subsequent recovery process was documented in the 2024 Hulu documentary "Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story".
