Megan Fox (40) could soon return to one of her most iconic roles. The actress is reportedly set to reprise her role as Jennifer in the sequel to the 2009 horror film Jennifer's Body. According to Dread Central, the horror film portal, citing industry publication Production Weekly, filming is allegedly set to begin in October 2026 in Vancouver.
According to the report, director Karyn Kusama (58) and screenwriter Diablo Cody (48) are also set to return. It's currently unclear whether Amanda Seyfried (40) will also be back on board. She played Jennifer's best friend Anita, also called Needy, in the original.
Horror film was initially a flop
Jennifer's Body told the story of high school cheerleader Jennifer, who becomes possessed by a demon after a botched ritual. She then transforms into a dangerous creature that hunts down her male classmates. Her friend Anita eventually realizes what has happened to Jennifer and tries to stop her.
While the horror film flopped at the box office at the time, it has developed over the years into a celebrated feminist classic.
Megan Fox is a fan of the film
Megan Fox already talked about a possible sequel back in 2021. "I don't think it's difficult to make a sequel to this film," she said in an interview with the Washington Post. However, she didn't envision a second film. "I mean, they should make it a TV series. That would be cool," said the Transformers star. Fox also gushed: "Jennifer's Body is iconic, and I love that film."
However, the film's release came during a difficult phase for Fox. She explained in 2019 in a conversation with Diablo Cody for Entertainment Tonight that the constant objectification at the time had taken a heavy toll on her. "It wasn't just that film, it was every day of my life, all the time, on every project I worked on, and with every producer I worked with," she said. "I think I had a genuine psychological breakdown where I just didn't want to do anything at all."
