For several months now, Hugh Jackman (57) and Sutton Foster (51) have stopped hiding their love. Now the couple is treating themselves to some time away together outside of New York City. As "People" reports, the two are currently spending a quiet summer in North Carolina.

"Hugh and Sutton just wanted to get out of the city", an insider reveals to the magazine. Normally, the "X-Men" star and the actress live primarily in New York City. After a busy work period, they consciously decided on a relaxing break.

Quality time away from the hustle and bustle

During their stay, Jackman is said to be mainly reading new scripts, writing, and spending as much time as possible with his partner. "Hugh has told friends that he believes Sutton is the one. He admires her spirit and her talent", the source continues.

However, the two aren't living in complete seclusion. Sutton Foster has a close circle of friends in North Carolina with whom the couple is also spending time. Foster's nine-year-old daughter Emily, from her marriage to screenwriter Ted Griffin, is also expected to spend part of the summer with them.

From friendship to love

Jackman and Foster met during their joint Broadway production of "The Music Man" in 2022. Initially, they shared a close friendship before it developed into a relationship. In January 2025, the two were photographed holding hands in Los Angeles for the first time. Last fall, a source told "People" that the two acting stars were "happy, in love, and looking forward to their future together".

Since then, they've been regularly appearing together in public. In April 2026, they attended the Broadway production "CATS: The Jellicle Ball" together, and in May, Sutton Foster celebrated her Met Gala debut by Jackman's side.

Both left their marriages behind

The relationship began after the end of their long-term partnerships. Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness announced their separation in September 2023 after 27 years of marriage. The divorce was finalized in June of this year. Together they have their now-adult children Oscar and Ava.

Sutton Foster filed for divorce from Ted Griffin in October 2024 after ten years of marriage.

New projects on the professional horizon

Both also have exciting professional developments ahead. Hugh Jackman was most recently involved with "Song Sung Blue", "Glennkill - Ein Schafskrimi", and "The Death of Robin Hood", among others. Next up for him is a new film adaptation of "Treasure Island".

Sutton Foster will soon be seen in the films "Rule of Three" and "The Best is Yet to Come". She's also taking on the role of country legend Loretta Lynn in the new stage musical "Coal Miner's Daughter". Until then, however, the two are first enjoying a relaxing summer away from the big city hustle and bustle.
