Around half of all families in Germany have according to the Federal Statistical Office only one child, while almost 40 percent have two children. Larger families have long been the exception. However, there are quite a few celebrities who have had an extraordinary number of children.

Menowin Fröhlich

A current example is Menowin Fröhlich (38). During his participation in this year's "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" season, the singer announced that he was becoming a father for the ninth time. His partner Ronja then gave birth to daughter Mavie-Soleyn on July 16. The singer revealed this to "RTL". "I'm happy that she's healthy. We've always wanted a child together and our wish has come true", Fröhlich said.

After his "DSDS" victory, the next, private challenge now awaits the 38-year-old. He brings plenty of experience with children, as he is already a father of eight. In April 2025, Fröhlich separated from his wife Senay after 14 years of marriage, with whom he also participated in "Sommerhaus der Stars" in 2019. The marriage produced five children together: Vioness Lionell (born 2014), Djievess-Josue (2018), Canel Losyen (2021), and the twin girls Elishjana and Acelya (2024). Three other children - Joel, Jiepen Joelina, and Geneve Marie Sonja - are from Fröhlich's earlier relationship with his cousin.

Bushido and Anna-Maria Ferchichi

Fröhlich could probably get tips for his large blended family from "DSDS" judge Bushido (47). The rapper has seven children together with his wife Anna-Maria Ferchichi (44): daughter Aaliyah, the twins Djibrail and Laila, son Issa, and the triplets Leonora, Naima, and Amaya. From a previous relationship, the sister of singer Sarah Connor (46) also brought her son Montry, born in 2002.

In an Instagram post, Anna-Maria Ferchichi gushed about the turbulent everyday life: "Whenever we travel, it reminds me of 'Home Alone'. There's chaos, everyone is a bit hectic, but I love everything about it." She knows a large family from her own experience. Her mother Soraya is also a mother of eight. By comparison, Sarah Connor's four children seem almost manageable.

The Kelly Family and the Wollnys

Among the best-known large families in Germany are, of course, the Kellys and the Wollnys. Kelly patriarch Dan (1930-2002) had a total of 13 children from two marriages. As The Kelly Family, they first made their way as street musicians in Europe and then celebrated huge commercial success in the 1990s. Many Kellys are still performing today. Baby of the family Angelo (44) even formed a new Kelly Family of sorts: Until 2022, he performed together with his own five children.

The Wollnys, on the other hand, became known through the RTLzwei reality documentary "Die Wollnys - Eine schrecklich große Familie", which started in 2011. Unforgettable is the call by the mother of eleven and grandmother of 20, Silvia (61), for some of her kids, which Stefan Raab (59) once played over and over on "TV total": "Sylvana, Sarafina, Sarah-Jane, Lavinia, Calantha, Estefania, Loredana, Jeremy Pascaaaal". The large family hasn't presented itself quite so harmoniously in recent years, however, with repeated public disputes and rifts.

Jürgen Vogel

Actor Jürgen Vogel (58) also has a somewhat unusual private life. On the "NDR Talk Show" last year, he talked about his big blended family happiness: "I have seven children with four mothers and we all do this together. That's the great thing, I've been really lucky that we all celebrate family holidays together and even when the youngest has a birthday, all the other mothers come too", said Vogel. That is "naturally a huge gift, honestly. For me and for the children, for all of us. For the mothers, that we managed to do it."

Vogel has five biological children and two stepsons whom he raised. They also ensure that the family continues to grow: When his two youngest children, whom he has with actress colleague Natalia Belitski (born 1984), were born, he was already a grandfather himself.

Sven Martinek

Vogel's colleague Sven Martinek (62) has also created an extensive family network. The actor has six biological children with five different women, as well as several stepchildren. His eldest daughter is sports presenter Esther Sedlaczek (40), who grew up with her mother and only met her father at age 16.

From 1995 to 1999, Martinek was in a relationship with Simone Thomalla (61), so during that time he also became stepfather to her daughter Sophia (36). Through his relationship with Bianca Rütter, the blended family expanded once again in 2018. She has four children from her marriage to dog trainer Martin Rütter (56).

Oliver Pocher

Comedian Oliver Pocher (48) has five children with two women. With his first wife Sandy Meyer-Wölden (43), he had a daughter and twin sons. Two more sons came from his second marriage to Amira Aly (33).

And the blended constellation is growing: Meyer-Wölden has another set of twins from a different relationship, and Aly is currently expecting her first child together with her new partner Christian Düren (36).
